AWS PrivateLink

AWS PrivateLink provides private connectivity between virtual private clouds (VPCs), supported AWS services, and your on-premises networks without exposing your traffic to the public internet.

AWS PrivateLink allows you to create a private connection to Honeycomb’s API over AWS networks, which can drastically reduce costs for high volume traffic.

How it works

Honeycomb must grant access to each AWS account that requires access to the Honeycomb API via AWS PrivateLink. Contact your Honeycomb account team for details. Honeycomb hosts an AWS PrivateLink endpoint only in certain regions. VPCs within the region may access it directly, and VPCs outside of this region can utilize VPC Peering.

Additionally, PrivateLink can be configured to emit metrics about its own operations to CloudWatch. AWS CloudWatch provides Metric Streams, which forward all metrics captured to third-party destinations. Metrics are streamed to Honeycomb using AWS Kinesis Data Firehose.

See Honeycomb’s AWS docs for more details.
