Introducing Honeycomb Private Cloud

More and more enterprises are shifting toward private cloud and hybrid deployments for control, data residency, and security. At the same time, observability is no longer a “nice to have” tool. It's mission-critical for teams driving rapid change across cloud-native, multi-service architectures. Leaders are realizing they need deep visibility and rapid debugging everywhere their systems run. The timing is right to bring best-in-class observability into environments that demand strict governance.

DZone and Honeycomb’s 2025 Trend Report on Intelligent Observability found that about one-third of respondents run or plan to run observability tools “as a service,” either on a private cloud or on premises. This trend aligns with what we’ve been hearing from our own customers, who are eager to scale powerful observability across hybrid and controlled environments without sacrificing performance, futureproofing, or scalability.

We’re excited to announce Honeycomb Private Cloud, an offering that combines powerful observability with deployment flexibility and enhanced governance controls.

Designed for scale, clarity, and speed

At Honeycomb, engineering excellence is at the heart of everything we build. Our observability platform is engineered for speed, scalability, and clarity. Our custom column store reliably ingests hundreds of millions of high-cardinality event attributes per second, and our query engine is uniquely designed to deliver real-time answers for thousands of enterprise teams simultaneously.

We don’t just collect telemetry data; we transform it into actionable insight. Every design decision, from our service-oriented tracing model to our intelligent query engine, reflects our commitment to reliability, usability, and quality. The result is a powerful, future-ready platform that helps teams identify and resolve issues before they affect customers, even in the most demanding environments.

Whether you need complete isolation for regulatory reasons or logical separation for multi-team governance or high telemetry volumes, Honeycomb Private Cloud provides the speed, performance, and insights that Honeycomb is known for, combined with the control your organization demands.

Deployment options

Honeycomb Private Cloud is designed to support organizations at every stage of their observability journey. Each deployment option provides secure and high-performance observability within the customer's AWS cloud account.

1. Honeycomb-managed

For organizations that want Honeycomb to handle deployment, operations, and maintenance, Honeycomb-managed provides a fully managed experience that includes installation, upgrades, monitoring, and scaling, while customers enjoy the same performance and insight as our SaaS platform.

It offers two deployment options:

Honeycomb-hosted: Honeycomb manages and operates the installation within Honeycomb-controlled AWS infrastructure. Customers benefit from a completely hands-off experience. This option is ideal for organizations that prefer Honeycomb to manage the entire environment and want consistent performance, reliability, and security.

Customer-hosted: Honeycomb manages and operates the installation within infrastructure owned and paid for by the customer within their own AWS environment. This model provides greater control over data, compliance, and network policies while leveraging Honeycomb’s operational expertise. It is often preferred by regulated industries such as healthcare, insurance, life sciences, and financial services that need data to remain fully under their governance.

2. Self-managed

For organizations that require complete autonomy and have mature DevOps or platform engineering teams, the Self-managed model provides full control where the software runs entirely within the customer’s AWS environment. Honeycomb provides support and upgrade guidance, but customers handle deployment, maintenance, and updates according to their internal policies. This model is ideal for highly secure or air-gapped environments that need total control over infrastructure and data.

Tenancy options

Both Honeycomb-managed and Self-managed deployment options can be configured as single-tenant or multi-tenant, depending on organizational needs.

  • Single-tenant: A dedicated environment designed for organizations with strict compliance, data privacy, or performance isolation requirements, such as those in financial services, healthcare, or government sectors.
  • Multi-tenant: An environment suited for large enterprises with multiple business units or regional teams that need logical separation within shared infrastructure. Each team maintains autonomy.

AI-native benefits for private cloud

Honeycomb Private Cloud brings the full power of Honeycomb’s AI-native capabilities—Canvas, MCP, and Anomaly Detection—into secure, controlled environments. These features give teams faster, more intuitive ways to understand complex systems while maintaining strict data governance.

With Canvas, teams can explore telemetry using natural language, quickly uncovering what changed or caused performance issues without manually building queries. MCP extends this intelligence with features such as BubbleUp, heatmaps, and histograms that automatically highlight anomalies, outliers, and incident triggers in real-time.

By combining AI-assisted exploration with high-performance observability, Honeycomb Private Cloud helps teams move from reacting to incidents to proactively improving reliability all while keeping sensitive operational data within compliant, private environments.

Compliance and data security

At Honeycomb, we take compliance, data privacy, and security seriously. The Honeycomb platform is built to meet enterprise-grade regulatory standards and governance requirements. With Honeycomb Private Cloud, you gain all controls plus deployment models that give you data-boundary flexibility, isolation options, and the ability to meet industry-specific compliance, governance, and audit requirements without compromise.

  • We maintain compliance with major regulatory frameworks and certifications, including GDPR, HIPAA/HITECH, PCI DSS, SOC 2 Type II, and the CSA STAR Level 1 program. These validate our consistent application of trust principles and independent auditing.
  • We handle data residency by giving customers choice of U.S, European, and APAC AWS Regions.
  • Our environment includes audit logging for enterprise customers to see who or what caused changes to resource configurations. We perform penetration testing, independent audits, and regular reviews of our AWS partner infrastructure (including foundational reviews by AWS).

Flexibility built for your environment

Every Honeycomb Private Cloud deployment uses the same proven architecture and codebase that powers our SaaS offering. Organizations now have the flexibility of choosing between Enterprise SaaS, Honeycomb Private Cloud, or adopting both while maintaining the speed and visibility that make Honeycomb the leading platform for modern observability.
